Invitation to our regular LOC “Friends of Attawandaron” This is an open invitation for you and interested friends to visit and enjoy Attawandaron Scout Reserve.
Les will be at Attawandaron Scout Reserve this Friday 5th October and Saturday 6th October. Friday he will be removing a couple of hundred survey flags that were used to ensure an accurate 2018 Orchid field survey as well as continuing to clear back a couple of hiking trails. Saturday he will be committed to working with a team to lay out a couple of cement pads that will be used to house a new wood shed and new outdoor covered dining/event shelter.
On Friday he will need assistance to remove the Orchid survey flags in the Fen (rubber boots required) as well as clearing back one hiking trail. Afterwards, time permitting, you have the option to hike our four hiking trails with different levels of difficulty. After lunch at Grogs or McPhersons??
Saturday, you will have the opportunity to hike the 4 hiking trails and or visit our bird feeding station by Burr Lodge. Note: The Sassafras leaves as well as other foliage is starting to change colour and are most beautiful this time of year. Again, optional lunch at Grogs or McPhersons??
Recommend you dress for the weather and long sleeved shirt, pants, hiking poles. Bring a snack and refreshment.
As usual, on Friday I will be leaving St. Mike’s in Bright’s Grove around 9:00 am arriving at the camp around 9:30 am. For people driving directly to the camp, the front gate may be open, so just drive to the parking lot before the hill into the main part of the camp.
