Les Moir will be at the Camp Friday 18th August, 2017 to continue with the “Citizen Scientist Rust Patched Bumble-bee Field Survey” in conjunction with Wildlife Preservation Canada and the “Common 5 Lined Skink Survey (C5LS)” in conjunction with the Pinery Provincial Park and is asking if anyone would like to help for around 2.0 to 2.5 hours.
Will continue to survey existing sights as well other new areas of the camp and will require walking the trails and open areas to determine the most additional productive sites. Les has the “BumbleBeeWatch.org and C5LS Volunteer Field Survey Data Sheets”, as well as additional Bumble-bee and C5LS information. Will require a minimum of two volunteers per survey team.
Once complete, people who show up are more than welcome to spend additional time exploring other areas of the camp. Maps are available.
Les will be leaving St. Michaels in the Grove parking lot around 9:00 am ish. For people who show up at the camp gate Les will be at the camp gate around 9:30 am ish. If the gate is open (Attawandaron Ranger may be on duty), park in the main parking lot just past the bird feeder station, at the bottom of the hill into the main camp ground. Recommend long pants, long sleeved shirt, hat, hiking boots (no open footwear). hiking poles (for the hilly parts of the trails), Deet and sunscreen, water, snack.
