Hi All,
One month from now we'll be cycling and sailing and sight seeing in the Netherlands! Whoo Whee!
Being a fairly novice traveler, I've already made my packing list and done a 'test pack' to make sure I have enough warm and weatherproof gear, and that everything will fit in my carryon. It's amazing what a 30 litre bag will hold with a little help from a compression sack.
In the near future I'll give my outer gear a rinse in a waterproofing solution, just to be sure, and I'll book our Amsterdam activities and plan our travel to/from airports. I will also check in with John about trains to/from Valkenburg to make sure we are ready for those transfers.
I know the Boat/Bike part of the trip is leisure riding, but the Valkenburg part will be more strenuous so Dave and I have been working out and doing indoor cycling. Even for moderate cycling, being ready makes a better trip. We like to think we'll be comfortable on the tours and also have a little extra oomph in the Valkenburg hills.
IMPORTANT:
Since this is an LOC trip, and since we do not all have the same travel/accommodation arrangements, I will compile a summary of everyone's flights, hotels, alternate plans, and emergency contacts. If you would send me that info, I'd appreciate it...besides I suspect you're making a similar list to leave with family...you all do that right?
If you have any last minute thoughts or advice, please share.
From Sharon...counting down the days.
