BRUCE TRAIL–PENINSULA CLUB: EMMETT LAKE & TOBERMORY MAPS

Reference - Bruce Trail Reference Maps & Trail Guide Ed 29

Map # 41 & 42: From Crane Lake Road 127.4 Ed 29 to Trail End Carin in Tobermory at 166.4 (now 165.0 with a recent trail change) for a distance of 37.6 plus 2 km on Bruce Trail Access Trails over 3 days.


Note: out-of-town, multi day trips are available for members only.

Important: Participants in Bruce Trail hikes are expected to register for a couple pre-conditioning hikes.

September 30, 2022 DRIVE UP DAY: 21, 2022, Friday: Peninsula Club (Last Done September 2015)

MAP # 42 From Little Cove Road at 158.1 to the Northern Carin in Tobermory at 166.4 Ed 29 (now 165.0 with a recent trail reroute).

Day Distance: 6.9 km Ed 29. There is limited trail access prior to this point. This section of the trail is deemed easy and should take around 2 hours to complete.

 

October 01, 2022, Saturday: Peninsular Club (Last Done September 2015)

Map # 41 From Halfway Dump Side Trail (approx. 1 km) to 141.5 on Bruce Trail to Map # 42 Little Cove Road 158.1 Ed 29.

Day Distance: 16.6 km Ed 29 plus 1 km to parking lot. This is one of the most difficult sections of the Bruce Trail and will take around 6 hours to complete and is deemed Difficult to Strenuous

 

October 02, 2022, Sunday: Peninsular Club (Last Done September 2015)

Plan to check out of the motel and do this hike on the way home.

 

Map # 41 From Crane Lake Road 127.4 to Halfway Dump Side Trail 141.5 and then approx. 1 km on Side Trail to Parking Lot .

Day Distance is 15.1 km. Note: The Section from km 135.5 to 145.9 is considered to be the most challenging hiking along the entire length of the Bruce Trail. Be Prepared!

Also donations of $2 ($5 if the distance is over 50km) per day plus donations towards any parking lot fees are suggested to help defray the costs of those drivers shuttling hikers to and from Trail heads.  A volunteer 'accountant' will collect and distribute such donations.

Price for 2 nights Ground Floor 2 double beds or single queen=$406.80 incl. tax

Price for 2 nights Second Floor 2 double beds or single queen=$415.84 incl. tax

Full refunds will be made to motel guests that cancel by 3pm 7 days prior to their booked arrival date. Cancellations made after the allotted deadline or “No Shows” will not be refunded the first night’s stay.

Drink Machines and a Microwave in the hallway. Refrigerators and hair drier in each room.

There are a few rooms left there.

Another Motel Lester looked at that he has also stayed at is The Adventure the Bruce Inn It was about 30 % cheaper than the Blue Bay in 2015. It is now essentially the same price. The issue with this one is its cancellation policy: Full refunds will be made to motel guests that cancel by 30 days prior to their booked arrival date. Cancellations made after the allotted deadline or “No Shows” will not be refunded for BOTH night’s stay.
