All who wish to participate in this event must pre-register by midnight the night before the event. If you find you are unable to attend, kindly cancel your registration.

If you are a non-member wishing to participate, you must first join the Lambton Outdoor Club, which includes completing the member waiver. A one month free trial membership is available for first time participants. Having enjoyed an outing or two, we hope you’ll join our wonderful club following your free trial membership. The annual membership fee is $25.

While participating, be respectful of other members' health management decisions and protective steps.

Do not participate if you have symptoms of, or have been exposed to, any communicable disease.

Basic Canoe Control Course - Tandem canoe only.
(It could save your life)

 

Maximum 8 participants, on a first come basis.

 

Registration is required prior to 2nd June 2023.

Course fee :-   FREE.

PrerequisitesMust be able to swim with a PFD.

The Basic Canoe Control course is designed to introduce the novice or relatively inexperienced canoeist to correct paddling techniques.  The emphasis is on mastering the fundamentals of canoe control.


The course will cover the following:-

MOT & Coast Guard regulations.

Launching and removing canoe.

Entering and exiting canoe.

Paddling positions.

Forward straight line.

Stopping.

Reverse straight line.

Draw.

Pry.

Pivots.

Sideways displacement.

Inside and outside circles.

The course goes rain or shine. ( Exception will be thunder and lightening or high winds) 
Total hours of instruction:  3 hours.
